PSAB Overview
The Public Sector Accounting Board through the implementation of Standard 3150 (PSAB 3150) along with the support of the Ontario Government, requires municipal governments to present information about the complete stock of their Tangible Capital Assets (TCA) and related amortization in the financial statements effective January 1, 2009. Compliance with the new standard will require all Ontario Municipal Governments to validate, compile, assess, manage and report on all current TCA’s under control by their respective organizations. PSAB 3150 will have a significant impact on all municipalities as the information reporting requirement is a significant departure from historic compliance in Ontario.
PSAB 3150 compliance by the January, 1 2009 deadline will require a significant coordinated effort by each municipality. At a high level, the following activities that would be needed in order to compile the appropriate TCA information and satisfy PSAB 3150. AGSI can assist with:
